MidAmerican Energy (Gas and Electric) - Commercial New Construction Energy-Efficiency Program

MidAmerican Energy's Commercial New Construction Program offers incentives to businesses for energy-efficient construction and design of new or pre-existing buildings. Construction Incentives are paid to the building owner based on the kilowatt-hour (kWh) or therm savings modeled and verified as installed by an independent modeler contracted by MidAmerican Energy. A minimum energy savings of 15% beyond that required by the state of Iowa code is required to qualify. Construction incentives for electric customers range from $0.06 to $0.19 per kWh saved. Incentives for gas customers range from $0.60 to $1.90 per therm saved. Design incentives are also paid to design teams who use the services of an independent building energy performance modeler contracted by MidAmerican Energy. Design incentives are based on the square footage and type of building. Incentives start at $2,000 for buildings of 5,000 sq/ft or less and extend to $13,000 for buildings as large as 400,000 sq/ft. The independent modeler will analyze potential energy savings and produce a final energy verification report. Customers who participate in this program are ineligible for rebates from other MidAmerican EnergyAdvantage programs.
