Groton Utilities, a municipal utility, offers incentives for commercial and industrial customers to install energy-efficient equipment in eligible facilities through several efficiency programs. Rebates for:
efficient lighting retrofits and vending machine controls (based on number of kilowatt-hours (kWh) saved)
new energy-efficient lighting
high-efficiency motors (based on the number, type, and efficiency rating of units installed)
HVAC equipment (based on the system size and efficiency)
In some cases the rebate is limited to 50% of the total project cost. Applications are available on the utility's web site, and in some cases an application must be submitted for approval before construction begins. Fort Collins provides businesses incentives for new construction projects and existing building retrofits. The Electric Efficiency Program encourages companies to retrofit facilities with new energy efficient equipment. Eligible facilities may receive incentives for installing or implementing efficient light fixtures and controls, food service equipment, mechanical systems, insulation measures, and industrial process improvements. Most rebates for equipment and efficiency measures are offered on a prescriptive basis, however, custom incentives may be available; contact Fort Collins for more information. Applications forms with detailed information on rebate amounts and equipment requirements can be found on the program website.
Fort Collins Utilities also offers the Building Tune Up Program to eligible facilities. Eligible facilities must have unique energy circumstances and must be committed to allocating $4,000 towards efficiency improvements. Facility conditions such as energy costs, building size and building age will also affect the viability of project proposals. Incentives vary by the metrics of each potential project. The maximum rebate available for this program is $50,000. Contact Fort Collins for more information.
The Integrated Design Assistance Program encourages the construction of new energy efficient buildings by offering rebates and design assistance. A Whole Building Approach and a Prescriptive Approach are both available to customers. Incentives offered under the Prescriptive Approach are identical to incentives under the Electric Efficiency Program. The Whole Building Approach offers a performance incentive and a design incentive. Both of these Whole Building Program options require that the building be at least 5,000 square ft. Businesses taking advantage of the Whole Building Design Approach can offset design costs through an incentive tied to total square footage and those participating in the Whole Building Performance Approach can receive the greater of $500 per kilowatt (kW) of summer peak demand reduction or $0.10 per annual kilowatt-hour (kWh) saved.
