The Premium Efficiency Cooling Program is open to eligible commercial customers in the San Diego Gas & Electric® service area. The program supports the maintenance and retirement of air conditioning equipment and the sales of new premium-efficiency packaged rooftop equipment. The program also offers Commercial Customers and HVAC equipment Distributors rebates on select high-efficiency and industry specific HVAC equipment.

Quality Installation Rebate

Installations performed by contractors who are fully licensed and insured and have undergone the initial and continuous program training, can qualify for a rebate up to $675 per unit installed.  Rebates are available for the following measures: proper sizing and selection of equipment, installation and commissioning of equipment, duct distribution, and customer project review for a total of up to $675 per unit installed. 

High-efficiency HVAC equipment Rebate

New commercial HVAC packaged DX cooled systems up to 63.3 tons and air-source heat pumps up to 20 tons that meet the Premium Efficiency Cooling Program requirements are eligible for rebates. And "Upstream" rebates are available for the HVAC distributors and manufacturers for the sale of high-efficiency HVAC equipment.  Rebates are based on size and efficiency. *See rebate schedule

For the Lodging and Hospitality industry, the Premium Efficiency Cooling Program offers rebates on high-efficiency PTACs and PTHPs to help offset the costs of installation. As well as the installation of PTAC Controllers “at no cost”. *See rebate schedule

*Three-Year Quality Maintenance sub-program incentive funding has been fully exhausted. Reservations for this program are no longer being accepted.

Program Steps:

Pre-approval is required -A voucher activation number will be provided when a reservation is granted. (expect 2 weeks)

The reservation is valid for 60 days. Reservations do not guarantee funding or approval of final equipment selection. Incentive levels and eligibility criteria are subject to change without advanced notice.

Installation-Once the project is complete, the following documentation will need to gather.

Post-installation verification is required for all projects. Customers must provide reasonable access to program inspectors and/or measurement and evaluation contractors for verification of equipment installation.

Payment assignment- Customers who wish to receive utility incentives directly must provide their Statement of Energy Performance (see benchmarking notice for details), W-9 form and complete incentive application within 60 days of installation

The Yellowstone Valley Electric Cooperative offers rebates to residential and commercial members for purchasing energy efficient add-on heat pumps, geothermal heat pumps, water heaters, dishwashers, refrigerators, and washing machines. (Note: A State Tax Credit of $1,500 is also available for Ground Source Heat Pumps.) Rebate applications are located on the program web site. All installation and equipment requirements must be met. 

Xcel Energy offers a variety of incentives to commercial and industrial customers in the New Mexico service territory. Rebates are available for central air conditioning systems, heat pumps, rooftop units, chillers, room controls, lighting measures, lighting controls, pumps, motors, variable speed drives and EC motors. Additionally, custom rebates and in-depth energy studies are available through Xcel Energy's program. Custom rebates are worth up to $400/kW saved and efficiency studies for large commercial and industrial customers can cover up to 75% of the study cost. Combined heat and power projects are also eligible for custom rebates. View the program web site listed above for more information. Xcel Energy Large Commercial and Industrial Standard Offer Program (SOP) pays incentives to businesses for retrofit and new construction projects that save energy in peak summer demand periods and are located within Xcel's service territory. Payments to Project Sponsors will be based solely on kW and kWh savings. Any entity that installs eligible energy efficient measures at a facility with electric service provided by Xcel and has a maximum demand of more than 100 kW is eligible to participate in the program. Incentives are paid for both energy and demand savings. Project Sponsors are required to meet minimum eligibility criteria and sign a standard agreement with Xcel, which includes an estimate of how many kW and kWh the project will save and the associated incentive payment amount. Project Sponsors receive incentive payments from Xcel Energy for installing energy efficiency measures. Xcel does not perform any energy efficiency services, nor does it install any efficiency measures directly for end-use customers, but instead contracts with the Project Sponsors, as required by state legislation.

Western Massachusetts Electric (WMECO) helps commercial and industrial customers offset the additional costs of purchasing and installing energy efficient equipment. WMECO offers rebates for lighting, controls, motors, variable frequency drives, compressed air, energy management systems and general HVAC upgrades. Some rebates vary by energy savings or by the efficiency of the purchased and installed equipment. Some rebates may also be limited based upon whether applications are for small business customers, retrofits, or placed in new construction. All equipment requirements must be met in order to receive rebates. 

Upper Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation (UCEMC), in collaboration with the Tennessee Valley Authority, offers incentives for its customers to purchase and install energy efficient equipment through the Energy Right Program. Rebates are available for energy efficient heat pumps, water heaters and new homes which meet the program standards. A $150 rebate will be given to any customer installing a new heat pump in UCEMC's service area, either residential or commercial. Commercial accounts are eligible for a rebate of $150 for each 3 ton of heat pump. A $100 rebate will be paid to any commercial or residential customer installing an electric water heater in UCEMC's service area. The rebate will be given whether the heat pump or water heater is being installed for the first time or if it is replacing an old unit. The heat pump and water heater rebates will be given as a credit on customers' accounts.

Upper Cumberland EMC also hosts the Energy Efficient Heat Pump Loan Program and the Energy Right New Homes Program. Customers participating in the New Home Program can not receive rebates for water heaters or heat pumps from Upper Cumberland EMC.  

Unitil offers three different programs for its commercial, industrial, and institutional customers in New Hampshire: the Small Business Energy Efficiency Services Program, the Large Business Retrofit Program, and the Large C&I New Construction Program. The New Construction Rebate Program will provide lower incentives in most cases. Incentives are available for motors, chillers, variable speed drives, HVAC equipment, lighting fixtures, lighting controls and custom measures. All equipment purchased must meet the program requirements stated on the program web site and application forms. 

United Power, together with Tri-State Generation and Transmission (TSGT), offers rebates for the installation of a variety of energy efficient equipment including heating and cooling systems, water heaters, home appliances, and LEDs. Customers should contact a United Power Member Services representative prior to purchasing HVAC equipment to ensure efficiency requirements are met. All credits must be requested within 180 days of installation. These rebates typically target residential customers, however commercial and industrial customers are eligible for rebates as well. An inspection report signed by a United Power Energy Management Specialist is required to qualify for any of these credits.  

United Power, in conjunction with wholesale power supplier Tri-State Generation & Transmission (TSGT), offers rebates for the installation of a variety of commercial energy efficient equipment including:  motors, general lighting, street lighting, and refrigeration lighting. Customers should contact a United Power Member Services representative prior to purchasing and installing any new equipment to ensure program requirements are met. All credits must be requested within 180 days of installation. Motor rebates are available through both TSGT and United Power, while all lighting rebates are only provided by TSGT.
