Energy Efficiency

Liberty Utilities' program for existing commercial buildings provides incentives for energy efficient equipment installations. Incentives are available for HVAC equipment, variable frequency drives, motors, lighting, compressed air, chillers and custom measures. Additionally, small business incentives are designed to pay, on average, approximately 50% of the total project cost. Small business rebates are available for lighting, programmable thermostats, refrigeration, motors and economizers. Some equipment incentives vary based upon the size or efficiency of the equipment. Additionally, some incentives vary based upon whether a project is for new construction or retrofit applications. All equipment must meet program efficiency requirements in order to be eligible for rebates. Liberty Utilities has assumed National Grid's customers base in the state of New Hampshire.

Franklin Energy Services and the Lansing Board of Water & Light (LBWL) partner together to offer the Hometown Energy Savers® Commercial and Industrial Energy Efficiency Rebate Program. Eligible business electric customers may receive rebates on energy efficient lighting, controls, refrigeration, HVAC equipment, or several other energy efficient measures. Purchased products must meet all program standards in order to receive rebates. The Small Business Direct Install Program offers free energy-saving products. 

Lakeview Light and Power offers a commercial lighting rebate program. Rebates apply to the installation of energy efficient lighting retrofits in non-residential buildings. The rebate program is funded by BPA and ends in September of 2010 or earlier if the funding is exhausted. Lakeview Light & Power hired Demand Side Engineering (DSE) to administer the program.

LaGrange County REMC, in conjunction with the Wabash Valley Power Association's Power Moves program, offers a variety of rebates for the purchase and installation of energy efficient equipment. The program may be changed or cancelled at any time without notice and program funds are limited. Incentives are available on a first-come, first-served basis. 

For custom projects, the rebate incentive is $.05/kWh savings in the first year for lighting or lighting controls projects or $.08/kWh savings in the first year for non-lighting project or a maximum of $50,000.

LADWP’s Commercial Lighting Incentive Program (CLIP) provides rebates on the installation of newly purchased and installed energy-saving lighting and controls.Incentive levels are based on the calculated energy savings of each project, with rates ranging from $0.05 to $0.15 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) of annualized savings.

Energy saving lighting equipment included:

• LED Interior Ceiling Mounted, Downlight, and Highbay Fixtures
• Exterior LED Pole Mounted and Wallpack Fixtures
• LED Screw-In Lamps
• Occupancy Sensors and Daylight Controls
• New Induction Lamps and Fixtures
• High Performance Reduced Wattage Fluorescent Lamps and Ballast

In addition, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power offers prescriptive and custom incentives to non-residential customers for the installation of other energy saving measures, equipment, or systems that exceed Title 24 or minimum industry standards. Custom incentives are based on estimation software that determines the energy savings for each project. 

Kauai Island Utility Cooperative, a Touchstone Energy Cooperative, offers incentives to its commercial customers for installing energy efficient equipment. The eligible replacements are identified by a survey and reported by KIUC’s Commercial Energy Services Representative. After the equipment has been installed, KIUC performs a follow-up visit to verfiy that all equipement has been installed and is working properly. Once verified, an incentive payment is issued.

Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) offers several rebates to commercial customers for energy efficiency improvements. Rebates are available for HVAC maintenance, heat pumps, duct leak repairs, insulation, LED exit signs and compact fluorescent bulbs. Insulation rebates are only available to small business customers. The required level of insulation over or under air conditioned space is R-30 in the attic or R-15 under raised floor.  Commercial lighting retrofits that accomplish 25% reductions in energy use are eligible for rebates of up to $2,500, at a rate of $150 per kW reduced.  

Kentucky Utilities Company (KU) offers rebates to all commercial customers who pay a DSM charge on monthly bills. Rebates are available on lighting measures, sensors, air conditioners, heat pumps, motors, pumps, variable frequency drives, chillers, chilled water resets, thermal storage systems, and a free energy audit. Customers must complete and sign an application form prior to project completion. Measure type, quantity and estimated completion date must be included. Eligible customers will receive an Installation Confirmation Form, which is to be completed and returned to KU within 90 days after project completion. Proof of purchase, installation details, model number, operable date and manufacturer's information must be included with form. Annual maximum rebate amount per calendar year, per facility is $50,000. Rebates will be received in check form within 45 days of receiving Installation Confirmation Form. New facilities are not eligible for this program.

Kentucky Power provides a variety of prescriptive incentives to commercial customers for lighting upgrades, HVAC retrofits, refrigeration measures and custom upgrades which conserve energy. Additionally, new construction projects and small commercial customers are eligible to receive a variety of incentives. All projects must meet the program equipment requirements and be pre-approved prior to the purchase and installation of equipment. Customers may then implement the energy saving project and can reserve rebate funds for up to 180 days. Rebates are only provided for new improvements to facilities, resulting in a permanent reduction in electrical energy usage. All equipment must meet program specifications listed on the application form. Final applications, along with copies of dated invoices and product specification sheets, must be submitted within 60 days of project completion. All documentation must be received by December 15 of the program year. 

Kenergy offers commercial and industrial customers rebates for energy-efficient lighting and other energy efficient improvements. Customers can receive rebates of $350 per kilowatt of energy-efficiency improvements. To qualify, a customer must notify and submit information about the facility, including desired energy-efficient improvements, for pre-approval by Kenergy. A rebate cannot exceed a project's cost.

Commercial and industrial customers can also receive a rebate of $50 for professionally cleaning and servicing their existing HVAC equipment. The HVAC tune-up rebate is awarded per unit for up to five units. (For more information see the program web site. Note that residential customers may also receive rebates for energy efficiency.)
