
Energy Efficiency
The Kansas City Board of Public Utilities provides incentives for commercial customers to install, or upgrade to, energy efficiency equipment in new and existing facilities. Rebates are available for electric and dual fuel heat pumps, electric resistance heating systems, electric water heaters. Rebates can also apply to all-electric apartment units.

Johnson County REMC offers rebates to commercial and industrial customers who install or replace new motors, variable frequency drives, air conditioners, heat pump systems and lighting equipment. Rebates are available on the purchase and installation of eligible equipment which meets program efficiency standards. Program application forms detail certain efficiency and installation requirements that must be met in order to be eligible for rebates.

JEA offers a number of rebates to commercial customers for purchasing and installing energy efficient equipment in eligible facilities. Rebates are available for lighting, HVAC measures, weatherization, variable frequency drives, cool roofing, windows, refrigeration, water heating and custom measures. Some incentives are awarded on a flat rebate amount while others are calculated based upon capacity, efficiency, or energy savings. All equipment must meet or exceed the stated program efficiency requirements. Measures not covered by a prescribed incentive may be eligible for the custom incentive amount. These incentives are awarded on a $0.08/kWh schedule.

Jackson County Rural Electric Membership Corporation (REMC) offers a variety of rebates for energy efficient equipment installed and operating in the current program year. Homes or structures connected to Jackson County REMC are eligible for the rebate. Rebates are available for electric water heaters, central air conditioning systems, and air-source and geothermal heat pumps. All equipment must meet certain standards listed on the program website, and rebate amounts generally vary depending on the efficiency of the equipment. Most rebates are available for new construction and replacement equipment. Rebates are also available for adding an air-source heat pump to a fossil fuel furnace. Geothermal heat pumps that replace an existing geothermal heat pump are only eligible for rebates if the warranty on the old unit has expired. A purchase receipt and a copy of the manufacturer's SEER rating information must accompany a completed incentive request form. Deadline for rebate applications is December 31 of the current program year.

Intercounty Electric Cooperative provides rebates to its customers for the purchase of a variety of energy efficient equipment and appliances. Eligible technologies include: geothermal, air source, and dual fuel heat pumps, electric water heaters, and Energy Star room AC units. Customer must contact Intercounty Electric within 60 days after the equipment is purchased and installed, and must include an original receipt and copy of warranty with applications.

Inland Power offers a variety of incentives for agricultural/irrigation customers to save energy on participating farms. Rebates are available for a variety of sprinkler equipment (nozzles, gaskets, regulators, sprays, drains, hubs, etc), irrigation motor replacements, and variable frequency drives for small milking machines. Specific equipment requirements and rebate amounts, as well as a rebate calculator form and application form, are located on the program web site. Inland Power also offers a custom rebate of up to $0.15 per kWh, not to exceed 70% of project cost, for other agricultural measures not included in the prescriptive rebate program. Custom projects must be submitted to Inland for review and have BPA approval before the purchase of the equipment and installation.

The Indiana Power and Light Business (IPL) Energy Incentives Program assists commercial and industrial customers with reducing energy consumption through three common types of equipment: lighting, motors and pumps (for HVAC and Processing Equipment). The program also offers Custom Incentives to provide incentives for energy efficiency projects involving other technologies. Participants interested in the Custom program should define the project and submit an application early, as they must be pre-screened and pre-approved. Once an application gains approval, an incentive is reserved until project completion.

Indiana Michigan Power's Energy Saver Program provides its customers incentives for upgrading to energy efficient equipment and for properly disposing of old equipment. Residential customers are eligible to receive a rebate of $40 for proper recycling of qualified refrigerator and freezers. Customers can also attain discounts on energy efficient lighting at participating retailers. Visit the program website to find a list of stores participating in this program. The Energy Saver Program also provides for home energy assessments, renewable and demonstration pilot projects, school energy efficiency education programs, and weatherization services for income qualified customers.

Indiana Michigan Power offers rebates for HVAC equipment, variable frequency drives, commercial refrigeration equipment, food service equipment and lighting measures for commercial and industrial customers. Rebate guidelines are available on the Energizing Indiana web site and include technology-specific rebate levels, equipment requirements, and installation requirements. All equipment installed must be new, refurbished items are not allowed.

Independence Power and Light offers rebates to their commercial customers for purchasing and installing energy efficient equipment. Eligible measures include lighting, controls, sensors, and air conditioning units. Efficient lighting measures must be replacing less efficient fixtures, which are specified on the program application. All equipment must meet stated efficiency standards of the program. See application form on program web site for other rebate and eligibility information. Complete all necessary information on application forms and include all requested equipment information.
