
Energy Efficiency
FirstEnergy company Potomac Edison offers rebates to eligible commercial, industrial, governmental, and institutional customers in Maryland service territory who are interested in upgrading to efficient equipment.
Prescriptive Program: Rebates are available on lighting, controls, sensors, traffic signals, exit signs, heat pumps, air conditioners, chillers, variable frequency drives, food service equipment and custom measures. Contact Potomac Edison for information on maximum allowable incentive payments and other requirements. All appropriate forms, requirements and guidelines for equipment may be found on the program web site listed above. All application forms must be filled out completely along with all necessary purchase documentation.
Custom Program: Custom equipment program targets retrofits and new construction energy efficiency projects which include technologies that are customer specific and do not qualify for the prescriptive program offerings. These projects may include building shell, electrical and mechanical improvement that reduces energy consumption and demand by improving building energy performance. Renewable energy, fuel switching, power factor correction devices do not qualify for this program. All custom equipment must be pre-approved before purchase and installation.
Buildings Operations Tuition Reimbursement Program: This program offers up to 50% of the cost of tuition for non-residential building operators to take classes focused on energy efficiency improvements. Applicants must be employed in an energy management position at the facility. List of qualified courses and certifications are listed in the program website.
CHP program: The CHP system should be sized solely for on-site energy use by the customer and should not be exporting energy under its normal operational conditions. CHP systems can be fueled by either biogas or natural gas. The system must have designed efficiency of at least 65%. The program offers three levels of incentives.
Design Incentives: $75 per KW
Installation Incentive: $275 per kW for projects under 250 kW and $175 per kW for projects 250 kW and over
Production Incentive: 7 c/kWh for first 18 months
Total incentives are capped at $1.25 million per project. To qualify for the incentive, the project must be operational by December 31, 2017.

FirstEnergy's West Virginia’s utilities (Mon Power and Potomac Edison) offer the Business Lighting Incentive Program in accordance with the December 30, 2011, order issued by the Public Service Commission (PSC). This program is designed to help meet the state's goals to reduce both electricity usage and peak demand while encouraging commercial, industrial, and government customers to save energy and money.
FirstEnergy's commercial, industrial, and governmental customers are eligible to participate in the Business Lighting Incentive Program. This program provides a performance-based rebate for energy efficient lighting equipment and controls that save energy (kWh). Both existing buildings and new construction projects are eligible. This lighting performance incentive is $0.05/kWh saved in the first year after an upgrade. All equipment installed must be code compliant and installed in accordance with FirstEnergy standards. A variety of lighting products and controls technologies are eligible for the program as measurable savings are the only metric used to determine rebate levels.

Ohio subsidiaries of FirstEnergy (Ohio Edison, The Illuminating Company, Toledo Edison) offer rebates for the installation of certain energy efficiency improvements for commercial customers. These programs were created in response to Ohio Senate Bill 221, and funded by all non-residential customers of First Energy. Live webinar presentations are available on the website above to inform customers of new programs and program updates. Incentives help cover the cost of energy efficiency upgrades involving HVAC equipment, commercial cooking equipment, motors, variable frequency drives, lighting measures, and custom measures. Projects must be approved before measures are implemented, except in the case of the Mercantile Customer Program. Nine trade associations serve as program delivery administrators and are equipped to support members in the incentive application process.
Note: This program will be suspended on December 31, 2014 following the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio approval of FirstEnergy Ohio's proposal to suspend the vast majority of its energy efficiency programs.

Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (SMMPA) is a joint-action agency which generates and sells reliable electricity at wholesale to its eighteen non-profit, municipally-owned member utilities, and develops innovative products and services to help them deliver value to customers. With help from SMMPA, Fairmont Public Utilities provides incentives for its commercial and industrial customers to improve the energy efficiency of participating facilities. Rebates are available for a variety of energy-efficient equipment: lighting, HVAC, replacement motors, variable speed drives, anti-sweat heater controls for cooler/freezer doors, food service equipment, and custom measures. Each type of equipment has minimum efficiency and performance ratings which must be met in order to qualify for the rebate.

Eugene Water and Electric Board (EWEB) offers an extensive list of energy efficiency rebates for existing facilities that apply to both specific equipment, as well as customized rebates for more comprehensive facility improvements. Business and industrial customers participating in the customized rebate program will have an EWEB representative visit the facility and evaluate its energy use. During the analysis, the representative will identify potential efficiency improvements, provide a customized savings estimate with simple paybacks and discuss possible cash incentives for installing electric energy saving measures. Rebates exceeding $1,500 require pre-approval before installation.

The Commercial and Industrial Solutions Program is an energy efficiency program designed to help business customers understand and make energy efficiency improvements in eligible facilities. The program provides educational and incentive resources through a free energy evaluation and lighting, HVAC, and motor measures eligible for an incentive. All commercial lighting, motor, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning contractors that serve Entergy New Orleans customers are eligible to apply to participate in this program.

The Small Business Program is an energy efficiency program designed to provide financial incentives for the installation of a wide range of simple energy efficiency measures that provide energy savings in facilities. This program is available for any non-residential customer of Entergy Arkansas with a peak connected load of less than 100 kW.

Entergy Arkansas has several programs to help commercial and industrial customers increase the energy efficiency of eligible facilities.
The Small Business Program is an energy efficiency program designed to provide financial incentives for the installation of a wide range of simple energy efficiency measures that provide energy savings in facilities. This program is available for any non-residential customer of Entergy Arkansas with a peak connected load of less than 100 kW.
The Commercial & Industrial Program is an energy efficiency program designed to provide financial incentives for the installation of a wide range of energy efficiency measures that provide energy savings in facilities. This program is available for any non-residential customer of Entergy Arkansas with demand greater than 100kW. Prescriptive projects in this program are do not require measurement and verification (as listed in the eligible technologies). Custom projects can also receive benefits from the program and require measurement and verification to capture savings. The program implementation team provides measurement and verification services, information on energy efficiency best practices, program documentation assistance, savings calculations, and financial incentives.

The CitySmart Program is an energy efficiency program designed to provide financial incentives to public sector, K-12 schools, and higher education customers for the installation of a wide range of energy efficiency measures that provide energy savings in eligible facilities. Projects that benefit from this program include prescriptive measures (lighting, HVAC, etc.) as well as complex commercial or projects requiring measurement and verification. Program benefits include information on energy efficiency best practices, program documentation assistance, savings calculations, measurement and verification, and financial incentives. The tiered incentive structure provides an increased incentive for comprehensive projects that incorporate four or more measures. This program also provides benchmarking and energy master planning services for eligible customers at no cost.
No cost direct install measures include low flow aerators, low flow pre-rinse spray valves, compact flourescent lamps, vending misers, and shower heads.

Franklin Energy Services has partnered with the Michigan Public Power Agency (MPPA), which is made up of 20 municipal utilities, to offer the Energy Smart Commercial and Industrial Energy Efficiency Rebate Program. Eligible business electric customers served by one of the 20 participating utilities may receive rebates on energy efficient lighting, controls, refrigeration, HVAC equipment, or several other energy efficient measures. Refer to the Program Application for all equipment requirements and guidelines. Purchased products must meet all program standards in order to receive rebates. The Small Business Direct Install Program offers free energy-saving products.
