Energy Efficiency

Commercial, industrial and institutional customers of NV Energy can take advantage of a wide variety of incentives offered through the program for retrofit and new construction projects. Incentives and rules differ based upon whether equipment is for new construction or existing buildings.

Norwich Public Utilities (NPU) provides rebates to its commercial, industrial, institutional, and agricultural customers for high-efficiency HVAC systems, premium efficiency electric motors, heating equipment for natural gas systems, and lighting retrofits. 

NorthWestern Energy offers incentives to commercial customers in South Dakota through their Efficiency Plus (E+) program. Incentives are offered for installing energy efficient equipment in eligible facilities. Rebates are available for NorthWestern Energy existing commercial electric heating customers. Rebate categories include high efficiency lighting and controls, office equipment and appliances, high efficiency air conditioning equipment, insulation, variable frequency drives (VFDs) or more specialized measures.

All installments must meet certain energy efficiency standards to qualify. Receipts must be turned in with the program application in order to qualify for the rebate.  

Northern Municipal Power Agency, in collaboration with Minnkota Power Cooperative, Inc., offers rebates for non-residential customers to improve the energy efficiency of eligible facilities. Participating utilities are listed below this summary. Rebates are available for lighting measures, heating and cooling equipment, food service equipment and refrigeration equipment. All heating and cooling equipment must meet efficiency standards located on the program application forms. Rebates are limited to $15,000 per customer per year, and forms must be received within 60 days of equipment installation. 

Northern Indiana Public Service Corporation (NIPSCO) offers incentives to commercial, industrial, nonprofit, government, and institutional customers for new, high-efficiency equipment or systems, including new construction, major renovations, or additions to existing facilities. Customers receive rebates based on the estimated electricity to be saved in the first year that the new equipment or systems are in place. Systems or equipment installed before receiving project approval are not eligible for rebates. The payback period for the installed equipment must be more than one year (without the incentive).

Additionally, prescriptive rebates are available through Energizing Indiana

New Ulm Public Utilities offers incentives for its residential, commercial, and industrial customers to install energy-efficient equipment in eligible homes and facilities. Equipment eligible for rebates include:

Energy Star appliances

boilers

furnaces

central A/C units

central A/C Cleaning

district energy system repair/modernization

room A/C units

lighting

furnace cleanings

In addition to equipment rebates, New Ulm Public Utilities offers an opportunity for customers to increase their energy efficiency through the ReLeaf Tree Reimbursement Program. NUPU will reimburse customers for 2/3 of the cost of eligible trees up to a maximum of $75 per tree, provided the trees are planted in an area that will provide adequate shade to the building.

Rebates vary according to applicable sector, and some rebates are only offered seasonally. 

Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (SMMPA) is a joint-action agency which generates and sells reliable electricity at wholesale to its eighteen non-profit, municipally-owned member utilities, and develops innovative products and services to help them deliver value to customers. With help from SMMPA, New Prague Utilities Commission provides incentives for commercial and industrial customers to improve the energy efficiency of facilities. Rebates are available for a variety of energy-efficient equipment: lighting, HVAC, replacement motors, variable speed drives, anti-sweat heater controls for cooler/freezer doors, food service equipment, and custom measures. Each type of equipment has minimum efficiency and performance ratings which must be met in order to qualify for the rebate. 

The New Mexico Gas Company Commercial Energy Efficiency programs provide energy savings for businesses using natural gas for cooking and water heating. Prescriptive incentives for specified equipment  custom rebates for natural gas saving measures are available to commercial customers.  All equipment must meet the efficiency and installation requirements stated by New Mexico Gas Company.  New Mexico Gas Company also administers the SCORE Program which provides incentives, energy performance benchmarking, planning workshops, technical assistance, and communications support for participating institutions.
