La Plata Electric Association (LPEA) offers a variety of rebates for members to improve the efficiency of homes and facilities. Rebates are available for a variety of Energy Star appliances, the recycling of a refrigerator or freezer, electric water heaters, permanent electric heat, energy efficient motors, heat pumps, and commercial lighting measures.

The Energy Star Appliance and Refrigerator Recycling Program offers rebates for clothes washers, dishwashers, refrigerators, and refrigerator/freezer recycling. Customers have 180 days from date of purchase to apply for the rebate. Following purchase, customers must submit an original proof-of-purchase along with the completed rebate form to the LPEA office in either Durango or Pagosa Springs. The rebates will be credited to LPEA customers’ electric bills within the following billing cycle.

The Energy Efficiency Credits program offers rebates for water heaters, electric thermal storage heaters, electric motors, air-source heat pumps, geothermal heat pumps, and lighting upgrades for commercial customers. Equipment must meet certain efficiency standards listed on the program web site. For these incentives, customers are required to provide LPEA an itemized receipt and/or work order as evidence of purchase before receiving the check/bill credit.

Empire Electric Association provides rebates for its commercial customers who upgrade to energy efficient lighting, HVAC equipment, and motors.  These rebates are offered in conjunction with Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, with Empire Electric generally matching the incentive amounts provided by Tri-State for equipment and appliances.  In many cases, additional rebates are available for HVAC  equipment which exceeds the minimum efficiency or technology requirements of the program. 

Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) offers a variety of rebates to commercial customers which upgrade to energy efficient equipment. Rebates are available for energy efficient heat pumps, unit heaters, general lighting, outdoor lighting and refrigerated lighting. In order to qualify for the rebates, customers must submit an application, which are located on the program web site. Applications must be accompanied by a receipt and/or other proof of purchase with the brand, model, and serial number included. Black Hills Energy offers multiple programs for its Colorado commercial and industrial customers to save electricity in their facilities. The commercial prescriptive rebate program provides standardized predetermined rebates to commercial customers that install or upgrade energy efficient equipment recommended by an energy evaluation. Eligible incentives include HVAC, motors, lighting, and new construction.

Black Hills Energy also offers the custom rebate program to commercial and industrial customers for projects that reduce energy usage. Eligible projects include chillers, unitary HVAC equipment, refrigeration, and other energy saving measures not covered under the commercial prescriptive rebate program. The program allows the utility to either buy down the upgrades to a two-year payback or pay up to one-half of the incremental cost of the equipment. Xcel Colorado, has a prescriptive rebate programs offer a set rebate amount and are based on defined equipment and efficiency qualifications as listed on each program(s) application. Preapproval is not required. In addition, a Custom rebate program offers 400/kW which available for energy-saving equipment purchases that aren’t covered under our Prescriptive programs listed below. Preapproval is required.

Business LED Instant Rebates - As of January 15, 2015, you can receive an instant rebate when you purchase ENERGY STAR®-qualified LED screw-in bulbs from participating distributors. To be eligible, lamps must be on the ENERGY STAR-qualified product list (QPL).

LED Parking Garage Rebates:

Prescriptive retrofit rebates are for a one-for-one fixture replacement of high intensity discharge (HID) technology. Replacing or retrofitting fluorescent fixtures may qualify for a rebate through our Custom Efficiency program. To qualify for a rebate, LED parking fixtures installed must be found on the DesignLights Consortium’s (DLC) Qualified Product list.

LED Troffer Rebates:

To qualify for a rebate, LED troffer fixtures must be listed on the DesignLights Consortium’s (DLC) Qualified product list.

SMPA provides express rebates on LED Lighting. Those rebates are described below: 

Special Programs:

SMPA has a number of special programs to help you make your home or business more energy efficient. 

Pole Mounted Street, Parking Lot and Security Lighting: New, retrofit on non-maintenance replacement of permanent installations utilizing LED and induction lighting products. Minimum original wattage of 75 watts. Only one project per member per year. 

LED Refrigerated Case Lighting: Refrigerated cases in grocery stores, convenience stores and other locations are typically lit with special low temperature fluorescent lights and ballasts. According to General Electric, an older system using T12 or T10 lighting uses roughly 93 watts per door for product lighting. A newer system using T8 lamps is typically 68 watts. LEDs can be as low as 29 watts per door. Convenience stores typically have 15-20 doors and a grocery can have 80-120. Operation of case lighting can vary by store and will typically be "on" between 12 hours and 24 hours per day. 

LED New Construction Commercial Lighting: Installation of permanent LED lighting for new commercial construction. Installation can include fixtures within additions, new buildings and parking garages, as well as miscellaneous fixtures such as signage, canopy lighting and wall packs. Pre-approval of products are recommended. 

LED Commercial Lighting Replacement: Retrofit of permanent existing lighting systems within buildings, parking garages, signage, canopy lighting and wall packs. High efficiency lighting and pre-approval of products are recommended.
